Topics: Inbound Marketing

The term “Inbound Marketing” can be new to many of us while some are already in search of an answer. To put it in simpler words, “Inbound Marketing is an intelligent way of marketing your business without spending much or any money using the paid or natural search engine marketing methods”.

It is just opposite to the ways followed by the traditional, money consuming outbound marketing methods such as billboards, print ads (newspaper ads, magazine ads, catalogues, brochures, flyers, etc.), press releases, Tradeshows, TV commercials, radio commercials, cold calls, and email blasts etc.

What Differentiates Inbound Marketing?

The great difference with Inbound Marketing is, it is a clever strategy that is used to attract visitors and convert them into potential customers. For example, if you want to adopt the Inbound Marketing methods for your business, you will have to really work hard with your brains to understand your customers and act accordingly. The result is, your intended customers will come to you and buy the product rather than you disturbing them to buy your product which they don’t want.

Inbound Marketing makes its physical presence online using various methodologies such as website optimisation, content creation, search engine optimisation, email marketing, lead generation, and social media marketing.

These methodologies applied on the internet helps in meeting people who are already in search of an answer to their questions. For example, if you are searching on the internet for an answer on “how to write good content for websites?” you are quite sure to find hundreds of search results from which you will have to choose the best answer that satisfies your query.

How to start with Inbound Marketing Campaign?

The first best thing is to create Web pages or ads that will show up in search results when someone searches for something relevant to your business. You need to do a lot of background work in your content within an integration with SEO keywords to show up in searches where you will have many competitors, like in a race

  1. You can set up Pay-Per-Click (PPC) campaigns on Google AdWords if you want to outweigh other organic search results.
  2. Create relevant content with authors for Search Engine Optimisation (SEO). The more content you have on your website, the more are the chances of getting found on relevant searches. The content is the key that attracts your potential customers to your business.

How is Inbound Marketing done?

The Inbound marketing methodology usually follows 5 steps i.e., attract traffic to Convert, Close, and Delight and then repeat the process over time.

  • Attract: The first phase called “attract” is when people are totally strange to your brand. What you have to do is build brand awareness and reach new audiences through blogs, and social media contents to draw traffic to your website.
  • Convert: Once people come to your website seeking for information, your goal is to “convert” them as your visitors by enabling them to share their contact information with you. Which means your content should be catchy and informative to hold the visitors and tempting to look into other pages of your website or page.
  • Close: Now you have visitors contact information (e-mail or phone number), which is a lead. What will you do with this? Those people who visited your website may not be ready to purchase from you due to many reasons. Your duty is to guide them and instil in them a desire to buy your product (Close phase) by sending them timely content.
  • Delight: Now they have become your customer. Don’t simply ignore them after they purchased your product. Follow up with them and keep your relationship alive through encouraging e-mails and pouring in special offers or gift vouchers etc.
  • Repeat: At all these times you need to make sure the product/service you delivered them was satisfying. Only then it will encourage them to make another purchase and repeat business. A positive feedback will let them refer your business to their friends.

This is a simple inbound methodology that most modern businesses follow these days and earn loyal customers and promoters. Just as you have the realisation that “Rome was built not in a day”, Inbound Marketing is not a quick-achieved scheme. It takes some time to achieve very good results for the hard done job.
